Sergio Pérez explains his exit in the gravel: « The tires were too hot
Sergio Pérez will start in 11th position on the grid for tomorrow's Grand Prix, after making a mistake in the gravel at turn 5. An error he attributes to the challenging track conditions.

It’s a costly mistake for the Mexican and reminiscent of last weekend’s in Monaco. During Q2, Sergio Perez lost control of his car at turn 5 and ended up in the gravel, putting an end to his qualifying session. He will start from 11th place tomorrow, just behind Pierre Gasly, who has received a six-place penalty.
The Red Bull driver explained in an interview that after losing grip, the tires were too hot. “I couldn’t bring them back into the right temperature range and I simply didn’t have enough grip on my last lap, which is a shame,” he explained, emphasizing that the conditions were tricky and that’s how he ended up losing the car at turn 5.
“It was quite difficult over there to set everything up properly. The new layout with the final turn should help us, along with the race in general, although it is quite fast and the tires are very temperature-sensitive, which can be quite tricky,” he continued.
Regarding the condition of the car, the Mexican driver believes that it has suffered damage as a result of his mistake, reminiscent of the one in the qualifying session in Monaco. “It’s frustrating after Monaco, but it’s a race where we can really race unlike Monaco, and we can still score a lot of points tomorrow,” concluded the Red Bull driver.
