George Russell receives a warning for his collision with Lewis Hamilton
George Russell and Mercedes receive a warning for a sudden change of direction that caused a collision with his teammate Lewis Hamilton in Q2.

Mercedes narrowly escaped disaster in Q2 when George Russell suddenly changed direction in front of his teammate Lewis Hamilton. The latter couldn’t avoid him and lost a piece of his wing in the process. Both were called before the stewards to explain the accident.
George Russell explained that as he was just starting his fast lap, he was looking ahead and hadn’t checked his mirrors. His team didn’t inform him of his teammate’s approach. “However, to mitigate his responsibility, he was reacting to the car in front of him (Carlos Sainz) who had just finished his fast lap. Additionally, at the end of his out lap, George Russell had to significantly slow down to avoid hindering Max Verstappen and the Spanish driver from Ferrari”, a statement from the FIA indicated.
Therefore, the British only receive a warning, just like their team, for this dangerous move.
