Esteban Ocon: “We can be proud”
Author of a flawless weekend, Esteban Ocon crossed the finish line of the Monaco Grand Prix in third position. This is his first podium this year.
Delighted with his race, Esteban Ocon congratulates himself on his beautiful third place finish in Monaco. In addition to a perfect weekend, his first words are for his team: “Super weekend from everyone in the team. We improved the car in all the free practice sessions. We didn’t make a single mistake.”
One of the keys to the success of the French driver lies in the strategy of opting for intermediate tires as soon as the first drops of rain fell. A daring and successful strategy that allowed him to secure a spot on the podium. We switched to intermediates at the perfect moment. I am now savoring this podium and I hope it’s the first of many others.
An important podium while Alpine was in crisis two races earlier during the catastrophic Grand Prix in Baku. How did the team manage to bounce back? According to Ocon, it was thanks to perseverance. We never stopped believing, we never stopped making efforts to prepare, efforts to try and improve the car. We will have to wait and see in Barcelona, but the car was much better this weekend, so we had much more confidence. It was a very beautiful weekend from start to finish. We can be proud.
Esteban Ocon therefore signs today the third podium of his career and the first of the season.
