Satisfied with his 39th victory in Formula 1, Max Verstappen doesn’t hide that his tires were causing him trouble today. « It was a difficult race because we were on medium tires and we were struggling with them. It was a long race, but we had to hang on because we didn’t know what was going to happen. The tires were degrading quite a bit, it was complicated to drive in those conditions, and then it started raining more and more, so of course we had to come in to switch to intermediate tires. I didn’t want to push too hard, but I also didn’t want to lose time, so it was quite difficult to manage. »

The Dutch driver also had to handle the narrow layout of Monaco, combined with the rain, which resulted in a few encounters with the walls. « I touched the wall here and there, but it’s Monaco! I was losing control a bit, I couldn’t get out of it. I tried to manage my slides a bit. »

If he starts to get used to sharing the top of the standings with Fernando Alonso, who finished second today, the world champion has congratulated his other podium neighbor, Esteban Ocon. He had a great race and a great weekend. He can be very proud of his podium.
