Barcelona F2 Trials: Théo Pourchaire secures the fastest time of the last day
Translation: Third and final day of mid-season testing in F2 at Barcelona. The world championship leader has positioned himself at the top of the timesheets and confirms that he is a serious contender for the final victory.
The morning session was marked by several red flags. The first was caused by Théo Pourchaire spinning on cold tires. At the restart, Enzo Fittipaldi took the lead of the session before Pourchaire set a time of 1:24.852 and claimed first position.
A second red flag is going to interrupt the session, this time it’s Ralph Boschung going off track and landing in the gravel trap at turn 5.
Once the Campos Racing car was cleared, the lights turned green again and Pourchaire shattered his best time. He is the first driver to go below the 1:24 mark in the three days, with a time of 1:23.943, which allows him to increase his lead at the top. His time will remain unbeaten for the rest of the day, so he is the one who takes the best time over the 3 days.
The afternoon session did not know great success, as there were only 8 drivers who completed more than 30 laps. This can be explained by the rain on the track, which did not prompt the return of the cars to the track. The fastest time in the afternoon session is held by Roy Nissany with a 1:26.453.
The F2 will resume next weekend with the fifth round of the season at Imola, from May 19th to 21st.
