What we see

We already knew that the graphic engine between F1 22 and F1 23 remained unchanged. This can be seen in the track texture and the 3D models of the F1 cars. It’s not necessarily a flaw since the graphics of F1 22 were well done, but it would have been nice to utilize the capabilities of the new generation consoles.

As announced, the player’s HUD has been modified and now allows for better visibility of certain elements such as the acceleration and braking bars. The display on the steering wheels has also been modified.

Physics

One of the most criticized elements of F1 22 by players was the physics. It was considered too punitive but also too far from the reactions of real Formula 1 cars. While Codemasters games have often tended to make driving cars in the top category of motor racing more challenging in their games, this was particularly notable in the latest game from the Southam development studio. Therefore, the revamp of the game’s physics is one of the major points of communication around this F1 23.

In order to improve the driving experience, EA has announced that they have reworked the engines of the F1 cars to make them more precise and help the player better understand their car. They have also made changes to the way the car reacts to rumble strips. However, the trailer does not visibly show the differences brought about by these modifications. At first glance, it appears that the rumble strips are less likely to cause the driver to spin out compared to previous games.

Once again, the Precision Drive technology has been mentioned. This should allow players using the controller to benefit from a more comfortable experience by being able to control their car more accurately.

The red flags

This video also allowed us to learn more about the addition of red flags in the game. In reality, their functioning is very simple. From now on, in addition to choosing between the deployment of a virtual safety car or a safety car, the game has a third option when an incident occurs on the track: triggering a red flag.

When a red flag is triggered, a message appears at the top of the screen with a countdown. At the end of this countdown, all players are sent back to the pit stop where a strategy selection menu opens up to them.

It is also possible to see in the gameplay video that it is possible to choose the sensitivity of the red flags’ output in order to make their intervention more or less frequent.

The circuits

We also had the first official images of the Las Vegas circuit, the track that will be alongside the most iconic landmarks of the famous Strip. Unlike the Losail circuit, which is a well-known track in motorsports and already contains data that allowed its modeling in the game, the Vegas circuit was created solely using photographs.

Also note that the Paul Ricard will always be available if you want to drive with it in F1.

Codemasters has announced the release of additional information about the game on May 19th. As a reminder, the game will be released on May 16th for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
