Théo Pourchaire has been working with a psychologist since last season
In the past, Théo Pourchaire made some mistakes due to the pressure on his shoulders. Now in his third season of F2, the Frenchman is working to remove this stress and ensure that it has no negative impact on him. In an interview conducted by Emmanuel Moine on the show Les Pistonnés, he discusses his work and how he manages pressure.

Théo Pourchaire is embarking on his third full season in Formula 2. After finishing as runner-up in the category last year, Théo Pourchaire returns with very high ambitions. This summer, several rumors had the young Frenchman in Formula 1, but it didn’t happen. This year, the ultimate goal is obviously to reach the premier category. « I was able to put pressure on myself last year, which is something you shouldn’t do. But the expectations are high on my side because I have achieved great things in previous years. I am still very young, I still have a lot to learn. I will give my best. I have a great team and a Formula 1 team behind me. I remain focused on my job and we will see how far I can go. » he explains to Emmanuel Moine.
During the summer, Théo Pourchaire consulted a psychologist. The Frenchman had the opportunity to work on his mental side. This is what was lacking for him last year, where the pressure to perform repeatedly led him to make mistakes. « It is important to work on the mental aspect. In the end, in terms of driving, I know that I am capable of great things. But it’s important to be able to do it at the right moment, without stress, without making mistakes. Delivering under pressure is not easy. I worked on that. I worked with my team to know how to ask them the right things at the right time. I think we have improved a lot in that aspect. There are still 11 race weekends left. »
The 19-year-old is still determined to go for the spot to fulfill his dream. Théo Pourchaire has climbed the ranks very quickly, almost too quickly, which may have played tricks on him, especially in managing this pressure. « I feel more and more ready. In the past, I could say that I deserved my place in F1 a little too early. I realize it now. I’m starting to mature, to have more control over my subject in Formula 2. Which means I’m getting closer to F1 and maybe deserve a spot if I do a good job this year. »
