Sir Jackie Stewart reacted when he seemed to be roughed up while trying to get an interview with Roger Federer before the Miami Formula 1 Grand Prix. The three-time world champion, now 83 years old, went under the security line before the drivers’ presentation by LL Cool J and Will.I.Am in an attempt to get an interview with Roger Federer, a 20-time Grand Slam champion, for Martin Brundle as part of his walk on the starting grid before the race.

However, as the winner of 27 Grand Prix was about to do so, the security attempted to stop Stewart – Brundle replying, “You can’t beat Sir Jackie Stewart” – while the Scotsman eventually managed to catch Federer’s attention and get the interview.

This has sparked negative reactions from both observers and fans, who felt that the “manipulation” of Stewart, the oldest living Formula 1 world champion, was unnecessary.

On Instagram, after the race, Jackie Stewart joked by saying he hadn’t had to sneak past security like that in a long time, but that they had done a good job. He also praised Federer, a frequent visitor of many Grand Prix events, for being a good sport.
