Hard reality check for Charles Leclerc at the Miami Grand Prix
The Ferrari driver struggled during the race, finishing in the exact same position as on the starting grid, after suffering from a mistake in qualifying.

Starting 7th in the Miami Grand Prix and finishing… 7th, Charles Leclerc did not shine in this race after a terrible mistake during Saturday’s qualifying session, when he slipped and hit the wall. The Monegasque was on track to finish 6th, but Lewis Hamilton found a new burst of energy towards the end of the race and snatched the position from him. During the race, the Ferrari driver also had a clash with Kevin Magnussen’s Haas.
Overall, the Prancing Horse team seemed to be sorely lacking pace on American soil. A harsh reality check for Charles Leclerc after his podium finish in Baku. He now sits in 7th place in the championship (apparently his favorite number), with 34 points, trailing George Russell by 6 points.
« I struggled to make the car sink at high speed, which I hadn’t experienced since the beginning of the weekend. I had to concentrate to bring the car [to the checkered flag], so overall, it wasn’t a great race », summarizes the Ferrari driver.
He also asks his team to further analyze the inconsistent performance over the weekend. We must strive to understand why we are so competitive in qualifying and so unperforming in the race. We will continue to work and I hope that with the improvements we are going to make, we will be able to take a step forward.
Updates are therefore planned for the SF-23 for the Imola Grand Prix, which will take place in 15 days.
