The commissioners noted that Pérez arrived late to the drivers’ parade before the race, thus violating Article 19.4 of the F1 Sporting Regulations. This article states that « drivers must participate in a thirty (30) minute parade or presentation (including, but not limited to, group photos, social media activities, interaction with celebrities, or engaging with fans on the edge of the track) starting two (2) hours and ten (10) minutes before the scheduled start of the formation lap. »

Red Bull has explained and assured that this delay was due to the team’s media and other commercial commitments that the driver had to fulfill before showing up. The commissioners considered that this was not a valid reason for the delay, and therefore the Red Bull driver was given a reprimand.

According to the current regulations, if a driver accumulates five reprimands during the same championship season, they will be given a ten-place grid penalty. However, this penalty will only be imposed if four out of the five reprimands are related to driving offenses, which is not the case for Perez in this scenario.
