Verstappen and Russell exchange blame after their collision in Baku
The Baku Sprint was eventful, to say the least, on Saturday: George Russell got into an elbow-to-elbow battle with Max Verstappen at the start. This didn't sit well with the latter.

Who on earth can have the audacity, even the insolence, to confront the world champion himself? It is in this atmosphere that the sprint ended yesterday.
George Russell briefly claimed the 3rd place from a determined Max Verstappen who was prepared to make his life difficult. The British driver executed a move in a similar fashion to his opponent: pushing his braking point to the inside, even if it meant squeezing a bit.
Naturally, although the Dutchman regained his position after the Safety Car, he was very unhappy with this “insult”.
« Just look at my car to see that there’s a hole in the fender,” he grumbled. « He bumped into my fender at turn 2 and almost pushed me into the wall at turn 3. But thankfully, we managed to overtake him.”
Russell doesn’t give up
Naturally, when going up against Max Verstappen, one must have courage! George Russell saw the opportunity to take third place from the Dutchman and went for it.
The English pilot, however, did not expect such resistance.
(I) I was surprised that he tried to defend like that, he said. (I) It was a first round in a city circuit and he was on the outside. He had already lost his position, so I wasn’t going to give up just because he is leading the championship.
The two men actually discussed it in the Parc Fermé after the sprint. For a second act in the race?
