Esteban Ocon does not see the point in racing if Alpine cannot progress as much as Aston Martin

Aston Martin is without a shadow of a doubt the surprise of this early season. The second strongest team in the standings, after three races, its driver Fernando Alonso has stepped on the podium every time thanks to a much-improved AMR23 compared to its predecessor last year.

The Alpine driver Esteban Ocon believes that the French team can replicate the progress made by Aston Martin this season.

While the 26-year-old Frenchman believed that his team had the performance to compete with Ferrari and Aston Martin in Melbourne, he specified that the upcoming updates to the A523 in Baku lead him to think that the team is heading in the right direction.

“I am at the factory at least one or two days a week,” Ocon said. “I went to the aerodynamics department, I saw the future designs, I saw the future concepts of the car, what we are going to bring to the car. And there are some really interesting ideas. I can’t wait to see them come to life and see them on the car.”
