Three podiums in as many races, “it’s not enough” for Lawrence Stroll

With 65 points scored in three races, Aston Martin is in second place overall. While Mike Krack is fully satisfied, Lawrence Stroll wants even more from him.

This first part of the season highlighted Aston Martin’s tremendous leap forward in performance. Last year, after the first three races, the English team was last in the constructors’ standings without any points. Twelve months later, it is now the second strongest force on the grid, as evidenced by three podium finishes from their driver and double world champion, Fernando Alonso.

A huge leap forward, which is still far from satisfying the brand’s big boss, Lawrence Stroll, who now wants to see his team, led by Mike Krack, achieve victories, and the latter knows that there is still work to be done to achieve that.

“The team’s mission is very clear,” Krack stated after Australia.

Stroll quickly told us, “When are we going to win the next race?” He is obviously happy that we have taken a step forward, but it is not enough for his ambitions.

The advantage with Laurence Stroll is that we know where we stand – he wants more, and we will have to give him more.

Optimize at every Grand Prix

To achieve this objective, it will be necessary to succeed in beating the reigning world champions, Red Bull. A difficult task, although Aston Martin’s car has shown its ease on the three different tracks at the start of the season. Krack, precisely thinks that if his team manages to optimize the AMR23’s package throughout the calendar, then a better result could be achievable.

“We had three circuits with three characteristics. If we are competitive on these three circuits, we are sure that we can also be on others,” he declared.

« But you know that the range of circuits is now very different: you have Baku with a huge straight line, and then you have Monaco without a straight line. It’s always this kind of thing that changes the game a little. »

« And that can happen when you have such small margins, it can happen. It’s the situation we find ourselves in, and as I’ve already said, we have to be at our maximum at all times, giving 100% to make the most out of it. »

The Alonso Asset

Height of his best result in Australia, with fourth place, Aston Martin driver Lance Stroll is still recovering from his motorcycle accident suffered before the season, but should be in top form for the restart in Baku in less than three weeks.

Meanwhile, the team has been able to rely on their soon-to-be 42-year-old double Spanish world champion, who has finished on the podium every time since joining the team. It has been an idyllic start to their relationship, as pointed out by the team manager.

« It’s fantastic, if someone had said that you would have three podiums after the first three races, I wouldn’t have believed it either. It shows what a champion we have, he’s incredible, said the Luxembourgish.
