Daniel Ricciardo reflects on his role as a reserve driver
In a chronicle written on his Linkedin account, Daniel Ricciardo sets his goals for the year 2023 and provides an update on his new role at Red Bull.

Daniel Ricciardo had a difficult time at McLaren. The British team decided not to renew his contract for this year, leaving the driver without a seat.
« It’s the first year in as long as I can remember that my goals won’t be 100% focused on racing and competition,” admits the Australian.
Drafted by Red Bull, he joined the team as a reserve driver, a new role for the Australian who plans to focus on his new duties.
From a professional standpoint, this year is really about being a member of the Red Bull team. I am back in an environment and a family with whom I have a lot of good memories, and it’s really nice to be back. But it’s not about me this year, it’s about the whole team and trying to contribute and help as much as possible.
According to him, his work will help both parties. It will contribute to the development of the car, which will also allow him to not lose his skills.
Jumping in the simulator, learning their car, and assisting in shaping development are all things I am focused on doing. In return, this will enhance my abilities, confidence, and joy in driving.
These past two years have been challenging professionally, so I want to remind people that I’m still here, that I’m still a professional, and that I’m still contributing to success.
From a personal point of view, he plans to make the most of this year away from the racetracks, which he sees as an opportunity. While other drivers travel the world to race in no less than twenty countries, Daniel Ricciardo wants to travel for real. “I’m really excited to have control over the destination and the itinerary,” he says.
He will also benefit from a less busy schedule, allowing him to spend more time with his loved ones and prioritize quality time spent one-on-one with them, which I haven’t been able to do for so long. His third item on the list is titled “improve my skills on two wheels”. Not surprising, since the driver cultivates a passion for motorcycles.
Daniel Ricciardo will be present in Australia, the next Grand Prix which will be held for him at home.
