For the second round of the season in Saudi Arabia, Mercedes will bring some small updates to the W14, designed to move the team in the right direction, as hoped by Toto Wolff, the team principal of the German team.

He also believes that the circuit will provide a different test after a difficult start to the season where Lewis Hamilton, fifth in the Bahrain Grand Prix, finished over 50 seconds behind the winner, Max Verstappen. This weekend in Saudi Arabia, we will learn more about the W14, its characteristics and its limits. This represents a very different test from Bahrain, and it will be interesting to see how the car reacts, says Wolff.

Since this first race, Mercedes has been at odds with the design of its W14, with Wolff admitting that the concept would be revised, even though the team achieved its goals this winter. On his side, Lewis Hamilton complained about not being listened to when he gave his opinion.

The team will be bringing updates this weekend in Jeddah, but they don’t expect a miracle. We are making some small developments to the car: they won’t change the game, but they can help us move in the right direction, adds the Austrian. We will push as hard as possible to create opportunities and hopefully give ourselves a better image than in Bahrain.
