On September 6, 2020, after an exciting race, Gasly won the first French victory since 1996, a historic moment that made headlines around the world. We also remember the comments of journalist Julien Febreau, who was inspired by the pilot’s feat.
Starting in 10th position, Gasly then took the lead in the 28th lap of the Monza circuit after a 25-minute red flag period following the accident of his friend, Charles Leclerc. Chased by Carlos Sainz and Lance Stroll, Gasly, in his AT01, controlled the race until the finish line to secure his first victory and that of the team.
(D) During the race, once I saw how things were unfolding, I knew it was my moment. It’s time to shine. There’s no way I’m letting this opportunity slip away. I think we were in the lead for 25 laps. They were long, but I have to say that I enjoyed every lap. Controlling this race is the best feeling I’ve experienced in Formula 1,” he said.
This first official Formula 1 exhibition in the world will open on March 24th. On this occasion, another Frenchman will be honored as fans will also be able to discover Romain Grosjean’s crashed car.
