You don’t change a winning team! Aston Martin has decided to keep the Alonso-Drugovich duo for Saturday’s race.

As a reminder, the regular driver, Lance Stroll, got injured earlier this week and therefore is not taking part in the tests. He is being replaced by the reserve driver and reigning Formula 2 champion, Felipe Drugovich.

Called in at the last minute, he still did well on the track yesterday morning despite an electronic problem that forced him to stop within the first few minutes of driving. He shares the wheel with Fernando Alonso, who is taking advantage of a full day in the car this Friday and has already achieved the third best time of this morning’s session.

Tomorrow, Drugovich will be behind the wheel of the AMR23 in the morning, before handing over his spot to Alonso.

On its side, Aston Martin has not communicated about the nature of Lance Stroll’s injury and remains very vague about his presence for the first Grand Prix of the season next week.
