Max Verstappen named at the Laureus World Sports Awards
For the second consecutive year, the reigning Formula 1 world champion, Max Verstappen, has been nominated for the Laureus World Sports Awards.

Characterized as the “Oscars of sports”, the Laureus World Sports Awards is an award given annually to athletes and teams who have made a mark in the world of sports the previous year. In 2022, Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel were nominated, as well as Max Verstappen who became the fourth Formula 1 driver to receive the prize.
Same thing this year! The Dutchman has been nominated in the “sportsman of the year” category alongside other great names in sports such as footballers Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, and also tennis player Rafael Nadal.
« It is an honor to be nominated. Winning last year was an incredible moment for me: it’s such a prestigious distinction, and it means even more when you measure yourself against the best athletes in the world. Being shortlisted again is an accomplishment in itself, so thank you to my team Oracle Red Bull Racing for their support throughout our championship year,” reacted Verstappen via his website.
But that’s not all, he’s not the only member of the paddock to be part of the list of nominees because his team, Red Bull, is also included in the “team of the year” category. Among his category neighbors are the French rugby team, the Argentine football team, the English women’s football team, the basketball team The Golden State Warriors, and Real Madrid.
