Mick Schumacher “can help the team with his feedback”
His new status, his goals for the future... Mick Schumacher takes stock of the season which will begin on March 5th in Bahrain.

The young German driver was invited on the German version of the Sky Sports channel. This was an opportunity for him to speak about his arrival at Mercedes.
After two years at Haas, Mick Schumacher is arriving at Mercedes with a new status, that of reserve driver. « In a way, it’s difficult because of course I want to drive myself. But I understand my role and responsibilities and I know they are very important for the team. I have the experience from last year in the cockpit and I know exactly how the car should feel, and I can assist the team with my feedback. »
In addition to his work in the simulator, he also hopes to have the opportunity to drive the W14. « It’s a hope. If and when that happens, we still have to see. But it would, of course, be very good to have a comparison with the work in the simulator and then be able to help the team even better ».
He only remembers the positive aspects of this experience which can only be enriching, and is already delighted with his new team. The approach is super professional. It’s great to be able to talk with engineers and drivers and learn from them. For me, it’s great, it allows me to progress myself. I am eagerly awaiting the tests in Bahrain, where the serious stuff will finally begin.
Despite everything, he does not lose sight of his goal. « I am very happy at Mercedes. But my goal is to race again in Formula 1. We’ll have to see how the year goes and what opportunities arise then. »
The objective is clear, to make the most out of this year on the sidelines, in order to come back to F1 as a regular driver starting from 2024.
