Start of testing in Jerez for Mercedes and Aston Martin
The Mercedes and Aston Martin drivers begin today two-day tests for the tire supplier, Pirelli.

After the Paul-Ricard last week, it is now the turn of the Jerez circuit in Spain to host the Pirelli tests. While Mercedes was present a few days ago, Aston Martin is now hitting the track for the first time this year.
The program is intended for testing dry tires and to do so, both teams will take back the wheel of their 2022 race cars. However, the weather is not looking good as rain is forecasted in Andalusia.
On the Aston Martin side, it’s Fernando Alonso who takes the wheel today. It’s an opportunity for the Spanish driver to continue getting to know the car, even though adjusting work for the upcoming season is prohibited. Each of the four drivers will have to complete 100 laps.
This exercise allows the teams to evaluate the tires and communicate details to Pirelli in order to improve them.
These trials take place behind closed doors and no timing will be carried out.
