After announcing the end of his Formula 1 career at the end of the 2018 season, Fernando Alonso made his comeback in the premier competition in 2021 with Alpine. He eventually joined Aston Martin last August, replacing Sebastian Vettel who retired.

Alonso spent the first day of this week meeting with the team, spending time in the simulator, and getting a seat adjusted for the new car, the team communicated via their social networks.

Let’s remember that Alpine finished fourth in the constructor’s championship in 2022, while Aston Martin only finished sixth. By recruiting Fernando Alonso, the British team wants to give themselves the means to do better this year. At Silverstone, everyone is working tirelessly to ensure the 41-year-old driver a top-notch car.

In F1, the car is very important, but if you have the car, you also need the right drivers. We want to have both. There is a lot of work to be done and we can’t promise anything, but the trust that Fernando has placed in the team is a great motivation for everyone. Everyone is highly motivated to build the car that Fernando deserves, said Mike Krack, the team boss, to the Spanish newspaper AS. We will have to see the work done throughout the break during the winter tests in a few weeks.
