The Ferrari drivers training at Fiorano

The Scuderia begins a 3-day track training on Tuesday, January 24th at Fiorano. An opportunity to bring the drivers up to date on all the procedures to memorize, by repeating last year's session.

These three days of training will take place behind the wheel of the SF-21, the previous car dating from 2021. For now, the weather is mild and allows us to start this first day without any issues after the heavy snow and rainfalls of the past few days.

First surprise: it won’t be the two regular drivers who will start this test, but the reserve driver and vice-champion of F1 2021, Robert Shwartzman. It is planned that the latter will kick off in order to possibly allow Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz to benefit from a dry track. As for the rest, the order of passage between the two drivers has not yet been decided, but both drivers remain at the team’s disposal and are working in parallel on the simulator to learn about the 675.

Antonio Giovinazzi, the second reserve driver for the Italian team, will be absent from this session. The Italian is currently in the United States for testing with the 499P. He will be piloting the Hypercar which will make its debut in the WEC on the American circuit on March 17th. The preparation for this first outing in the World Endurance Championship has therefore been prioritized over training with the SF21.

The program for the next two days is yet to be determined. Each of the three drivers will have a full day of work. The challenge, given the winter weather, will be to warm up the tires despite temperatures close to zero these days.
