The CEO of McLaren finds Cadillac and Andretti’s proposal “convincing”
Andretti and Cadillac recently announced their alliance for a spot as the 11th team on the grid of the Formula 1 World Championship. This news has sparked many debates within the paddock, however, teams such as McLaren with Zak Brown are showing their support for this ambitious project.

This announcement by Cadillac and Andretti, along with Audi’s arrival in 2026, demonstrates the appeal of Formula 1 and its international development. However, the likely arrival of the American alliance in the premier category represents an additional step for Formula 1, which has not been able to welcome new teams since Haas in 2016.
“It has been a long time since we have had news teams, since Haas, donc it’s great to see that Formula 1 is attracting new markets, new teams, new sponsors, and a new base of partners,” affirms Zak Brown, the CEO of McLaren, to The Race.
For the past few years, Formula 1 has entered into another dimension with the Netflix series “Drive to Survive” which is experiencing great success in the United States. The country will have three Grand Prix races on the 2023 World Championship calendar thanks to the appeal of the sport. The interest of a prestigious American team like Andretti and a major manufacturer like Cadillac in the sport is also good news for the premier discipline.
