Max Verstappen trains a lot in the simulator, confirmed his sim-racing teammate
Max Verstappen dominated the 2022 Formula 1 season, but it is not solely due to his natural talent and excellent car. The young Dutch driver trains tirelessly to be ready to beat others on the track. He spends long hours on the simulator to know every flaw and advantage of a circuit before a race weekend.
This 2022 season has been overwhelmingly dominated by Max Verstappen. The performance level of his car but also, and most importantly, his high level of driving skills allowed the young Dutch driver to win a second consecutive world championship title at the end of a season where he claimed victory 15 times, an absolute record in the discipline.
Sim-racing in preparation for the Grand Prix
Max Verstappen is part of a whole new generation of drivers who grew up with Sim-racing. The Dutch driver is therefore a practitioner of this practice and uses it to improve himself before a Grand Prix. He even founded his own Esports structure in 2022, the team Red Line. He regularly uses the simulators of Red Bull and Red Line for his training. He also participates in numerous sim-racing competitions when he is not racing in Formula 1. While he has incredible talent for driving, he does not rely on his accomplishments and extensively exploits simulator sessions to find every track flaw and overtaking opportunity.
If a driver studies all the possibilities he may encounter on the track by preparing for hours on a simulator, he will become a smarter and more competent pilot. This is definitely a tool that allows drivers to improve their knowledge of a track and their car before a race weekend,” says Atze Kerkhof, manager of the Red Line team and teammate of Max Verstappen in a YouTube video published on the Dutch World Champion’s channel.
Max is a raw talent with millions of hours of training. He is a formidable and even unbeatable driver if all the conditions for him to perform are met, as in this 2022 season.
