Red Bull will build its entire car in Milton Keynes starting in 2026
Red Bull wants to expand its activities in Milton Keynes and plans to bring together the engine and chassis departments starting from the 2026 season. For several years now, the Austrian team has been diversifying its activities and aims to master all the components of its race car.

Since 2019, Red Bull has mastered all the components present in its race car. Indeed, the beginning of the collaboration with Honda allowed the Austrian team to benefit from an engine built according to their criteria only, rather than a simple customer engine. The creation of Red Bull Power Trains at the end of 2021 has allowed them to take a new step forward as the team partially develops their engine with the support of Honda.
An encouraging transition
The Austrian team has been constantly evolving since its creation in 2005, it has crossed all the stages in Formula 1 and now has one of the most impressive track records in the history of the sport. A feat that demands respect in an era where making a name for oneself in Formula 1 is increasingly difficult. The consolidation of the engine and chassis units in Milton Keynes will make Red Bull the only team, aside from Ferrari, to have these two departments in the same location.
We will have engine designers and chassis designers sitting side by side, thus ensuring an absolute vertical integration of these disciplines, said Christian Horner to BBC News.
This gathering is a demonstration of the Formula 1 expertise of the region and the United Kingdom, for the Red Bull boss. He has been leading the team for 18 years since its creation and works with a massive team that includes highly skilled personnel who have been by his side for many years.
I think that for Milton Keynes, for the United Kingdom, having this based here demonstrates the range of skills that exist in the region and the talents that we are able to attract.
A real race against the clock for 2026.
Although this transition will only take place from 2026, it is accompanied by the new engine regulations that will come into effect. Time is therefore running out for Christian Horner and his team, who want to be able to compete at the forefront. The partnership with Honda for power unit supply will end at the end of the 2025 season, and Red Bull could continue to fight at the front if the team does everything possible, according to the Austrian team boss.
« We have 36 and a half months to produce a brand new engine and compete against Ferrari, Mercedes, Renault, and Audi who will enter the sport. It is therefore a huge challenge for us, but I believe that with the right people, the right tools, the right culture, and the right approach, we can hopefully produce a product similar to what we have with the chassis », Christian Horner further affirms.
