Felipe Drugovich will drive during the FP1 session in Abu Dhabi with Aston Martin

It didn't take long for the newly crowned Brazilian Formula 2 champion to take his first laps behind the wheel of a top-level single-seater. While the Formula 2 season is not yet over, Aston Martin is shifting into high gear so that their new recruit can provide assistance as quickly as possible.

The United States Grand Prix was a contrasting event for the British team, with an excellent performance from Sebastian Vettel (7th) and a violent crash for Lance Stroll.

The true stars of this weekend were the young drivers. Many teams took advantage of the race weekend in Texas to put F2, Indycar drivers behind the wheel of their cars. We were able to observe Alex Palou (McLaren), Théo Pourchaire (Alfa Romeo), and even Logan Sargeant with Williams.

Felipe Drugovich was also part of the event, but only in the stands for now.

The Brazilian driver has signed as a reserve driver for Aston Martin just a few days after winning the F2 title in Monza. He is the first driver from the Aston Martin academy, and the team has already announced that he will be driving in Free Practice 1 in Abu Dhabi.

Meanwhile, he was able to get in the Aston Martin cockpit last weekend in Austin, under the watchful eye of Sebastian Vettel. Drugovich thus helped the mechanics train for tire changes by managing the brake pedal during the practice sessions.
