Charles Leclerc receives a 10-place grid penalty for the United States Grand Prix
The Monégasque will leave tomorrow with a 10-place penalty in the race in Austin for changing his engine for the sixth time this season. Tough blow for Ferrari...

The weekend looks like a bad start for Charles Leclerc and Ferrari. Although the race for the world championship title is well and truly over, with Max Verstappen being crowned at the Japanese Grand Prix, there is now a fight for second place behind the Dutchman. Sergio Perez currently has a slight advantage over the Ferrari driver by one point and will hope to extend his lead further this weekend in Austin.
“Good news,” if you can call it that, for the Mexican in his team: Charles Leclerc has just received a 10-place penalty for tomorrow’s Grand Prix start, for changing his engine for the 6th time this season, thus not abiding by Article 28.2 of the FIA. Furthermore, the Monegasque’s car will use a new turbocharger. « This is the sixth of the three new turbochargers allowed for the 2022 season of the championship, which is not in compliance with Article 28.2 of the Formula 1 Sporting Regulations », stated the FIA.
On his side, Sergio Pérez will start with a 5-place penalty for installing a fifth engine in his car. The same applies to Guanyu Zhou and Fernando Alonso, who have also changed their power unit.
