Nyck de Vries signs with AlphaTauri for 2023!
After the announcement of Pierre Gasly's officialization at Alpine, AlphaTauri has just announced the appointment of Nyck de Vries starting from next season.

The news keeps coming in the Suzuka paddock! Alpine has just announced the appointment of Pierre Gasly alongside Esteban Ocon, and now AlphaTauri has announced the signing of the replacement for the winner of the 2020 Italian Grand Prix.
Not surprisingly, the chosen one is Nyck de Vries. The Dutch driver, Formula 2 champion in 2019 and Formula E champion in 2021, managed to convince Red Bull’s leaders to bring him into their fold. As the third driver for Mercedes for several years, de Vries has been released from his contract with the star company to become a full-time Formula 1 driver.
This season, the sixteenth Dutch driver in the history of Formula 1 will have benefited from a real-life training in the premier category of motorsport. After participating in Free Practice 1 for the Spanish Grand Prix (with Williams), the French Grand Prix (with Mercedes), and the Italian Grand Prix (with Aston Martin), he stepped in as a last-minute replacement for Alexander Albon, who suffered from appendicitis, for the race in Monza. Outperforming his teammate for the day, Nicholas Latifi, he finished his first Grand Prix in ninth place.
Following this remarkable performance, de Vries was seen in Graz, Austria, in the company of Helmut Marko, the sporting director of the Austrian firm. This meeting, which is now no longer a secret, has allowed the finalization of AlphaTauri’s line-up for the next season. De Vries will thus team up with Yuki Tsunoda in 2023, marking his third season in Formula 1.
