Aston Martin had its best weekend of the season in Singapore
By bringing back 12 points from Singapore, Aston Martin had never done better this season. This is the first double entry into the points since the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix last April, which definitively relaunches the British team in the constructors' standings.

This Sunday in Singapore, some were able to take advantage of the special conditions to achieve impressive results. This was notably the case for the two Aston Martin drivers, with a respectable sixth place for Lance Stroll and an eighth position for his teammate Sebastian Vettel.
Starting from 11th and 13th, the various incidents during the race allowed Aston Martin to achieve their best result of the season at Marina Bay, earning a total of 12 points. The British team had never scored as many points in a single weekend this season, with their previous most successful Grand Prix being in Baku, where Sebastian Vettel brought back 8 points.
After the race, the German even said that with more luck, a better result would surely have been possible. « I was looking for a few lines to get a good position on the grid and it worked, so I’m happy. After that, I think we were a bit unlucky. I would have liked to stay out longer before coming into the pits, but the fact that the safety car came out wasn’t great, it just froze the positions. »
Ranked eighth, the four-time world champion had to give way to Max Verstappen in the very last moments of the race. « I slightly slipped in the final lap at the exit of turn 5, I knew it had to be perfect. It didn’t quite happen, Max had a very good exit and they have incredible top speed with their car, so it was difficult. I tried, but he was close, » explains Vettel.
On his side, Lance Stroll is delighted to finally score big points, as he is mostly accustomed to settling for the last positions of the top 10 this season. As proof, the former Williams driver had achieved five tenth places this season. Worse, he had never experienced anything better this year before this Singaporean weekend.
« We have a lot of tenth places this year, we had opportunities for big results, but for different reasons it didn’t happen, we never really scored. Today, things went our way. It was challenging, so I am happy to bring back so many points, that’s for sure, » says the Canadian.
With this great performance, Aston Martin climbs two places in the constructors’ standings and now sits in 7th place, three points ahead of Haas and AlphaTauri. With just a 15-point lag behind Alfa Romeo, the British team can still hope to secure sixth place by the end of the season.
