Leclerc lacks self-confidence according to Hill
While Leclerc has seen his direct competitor Verstappen soar in the overall standings with a 116-point lead, Damon Hill has defined what Leclerc is missing to challenge Verstappen more closely. According to him, the Monegasque lacks self-confidence.
The championship seems to be decided, and Verstappen is soaring towards another championship title after the one won in 2021.
Ferrari had started off well by scoring a lot of points in the first few Grand Prix. Charles Leclerc had also taken the lead in the championship in the process.
But as the season went on, Ferrari made more and more mistakes and Leclerc was forced to retire several times. This greatly helped Verstappen who was slowly pulling away.
For many people, Leclerc is missing something to compete even more with Verstappen.
According to Damon Hill, he lacks self-confidence, something that Verstappen has had since he started in F1.
I think it’s this sense of confidence that Max has and Leclerc lacks. The first time we interviewed [Verstappen], he came on Sky Sports, he was a 17-year-old guy and he just knew how to handle himself. He had so much confidence. It was absolutely incredible for a 17-year-old.
Charles is a charming and intelligent boy, but he is anxious.
Charles Leclerc will now have to focus on second place, which is in danger due to Perez’s pressure.
