Christian Horner would have liked to see Oscar Piastri at Red Bull
The director of Red Bull admitted that he was disappointed not to have signed Oscar Piastri. The driver, who committed to McLaren for several seasons, had driven for Christian Horner's youth team.

Christian Horner revealed some anecdotes about Piastri. He could have brought him to Red Bull when the driver was racing in F4. But the Australian preferred to go to Renault and the Red Bull team boss regrets it.
He did not hesitate to praise the young driver who will begin in Formula 1 starting next year.
He drove for the Arden team in Formula 4 and Formula Renault, and was obviously a significant talent.
« There was an opportunity for Red Bull to observe him at the time, and we did not choose this option, which I regret. But what he has achieved in Formula 2 and Formula 3 is phenomenal.
»
The former driver also criticized Alpine’s work on the Piastri case, suggesting that Red Bull would have acted differently.
« If he had been a driver here, there is no way he wouldn’t have been locked up for a certain period of time. I wasn’t part of the negotiations so it’s difficult to judge what was promised or what was denied. »
The Australian driver will be behind the wheel of McLaren starting next season, much to the dismay of Alpine, who are still struggling to find a replacement for Alonso.
