Search conducted at the home of Jumbo’s boss

Jumbo's CEO, Frits van Eerde, has been arrested for money laundering along with 8 other suspects. His residence has been searched and the investigation is ongoing in the Netherlands.

Frits van Eerde, the boss of Jumbo, is accused of money laundering in real estate transactions, as well as in car dealership concessions and sponsorship contracts in motorsports.

The matter is taken very seriously given that Frits van Eerde is one of the most influential figures in Dutch motorsport. He owns the Jumbo supermarket chain and has enabled the Netherlands to establish a presence in the motorsport industry through his sponsorship and the creation of a team that regularly competes in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The defendant participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and finished 16th in the 2021 edition with his team. He is also the main sponsor of the recent winner of the Tour de France, Vingegaard, as well as one of Verstappen’s sponsors.

Her team, Racing Team Nederland, was created in 2016 and has participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans between 2017 and 2021. In 2022, the team is present in the IMSA championship in the United States.

For the moment, the boss of Jumbo is in police custody, accompanied by the 8 other defendants. The prosecutor should decide shortly whether the parties can leave or if it is better to keep them at the station.
