Alpine testing with Doohan in Monza and Budapest

Jack Doohan will be tested by Alpine in Budapest, but he will have already driven in F1 before that during a filming day with Alpine, as always. He will be joined by several other drivers who appear to be contenders for Alonso's seat. Among them are Nyck de Vries, Colton Herta, and Antonio Giovinazzi. The competition will be tough to claim a spot in the seat.

The tests have been ongoing lately for the aspiring Alpine drivers. The team is still searching for Alonso’s replacement as he leaves at the end of the year. The number of drivers vying for the spot is narrowing down, leaving room for a shortlist.

Four drivers are standing out to take their place on the grid for the 2023 Championship. Among the four, three will carry out tests on old Alpines during trials in Budapest.

The 3 drivers are Nyck de Vries, Antonio Giovinazzi, and Jack Doohan. The fourth driver who will be testing with them is Colton Herta. It seems that for him, it would be assistance to Red Bull to obtain a super license and thus free up Gasly, who would directly join Alpine.

Jack Doohan is a very serious contender to take over Alonso’s torch. At just 19 years old, the young driver from the Alpine Academy is performing well in Formula 2. He is currently ranked 5th and can still hope for a place on the podium.

He is very comfortable behind the wheel and his status as a young driver from the Alpine Academy could work in his favor. His role as a promising driver would also allow Ocon to be the team’s number one and help the young driver improve throughout the season.

Before this testing session, which will take place in Budapest, Alpine had Jack Doohan drive the Alpine 2022, the A522, for a promotional filming day on Tuesday, September 14th.
