Italian Grand Prix: Gasly enterprising
The French driver Pierre Gasly had a quite enjoyable weekend. He managed to reach the 8th position in the Italian Grand Prix and allowed his team to collect some points.

Gasly had a rather good weekend at Monza. The French driver was not really troubled by his pursuers during the race and finished in the top 10, in 8th position. This is the second time in three races since the break that the driver has scored points. A good sign for the end of the season.
However, the weekend started off poorly for the Frenchman who was struggling during the practice sessions. He couldn’t manage to finish in the top 10. It must be said that on Thursday, during the first day in Monza, the No.10 was sick, and that may have affected the early practice sessions.
Although diminished, the AlphaTauri driver achieves good qualifying results. He manages to reach Q3 and ultimately finishes in 9th place in these qualifications. The numerous penalties received by the other drivers propelled Gasly to 5th position on Sunday.
The race was long!
The winner of the 2020 Italian round makes a rather good start and finds himself directly in 4th position, after a poor start from Norris who remained stationary. The Frenchman is on a good streak but penalized drivers are gradually catching up and overtaking him.
With heavy traffic between the midfield runners during the Grand Prix, it was very difficult to overtake or be overtaken. A situation that drove Pierre Gasly crazy, as he couldn’t pass Ricciardo.
I think I’m going to have nightmares about Ricciardo’s rear wing. I tried twice, as soon as I saw an opportunity, but it didn’t work. I was going crazy in the car.
The French driver also took advantage of the end of the race under the safety car to secure 8th place and thus bring some points to his team which has not been in great shape recently.
« We still had a very good race, finishing behind the three top teams and Norris. Considering our recent performances, it’s the best we could hope for.

The Normand will be able to rest for 3 weeks to recharge his batteries and recover from his illness. He will then hope to perform just as well in the Singapore Grand Prix.
