Italian Grand Prix: A frustrating race for Charles Leclerc
Charles Leclerc had a rather frustrated Grand Prix. The driver started in pole position but ended up behind Max Verstappen with the last few laps under Safety Car. He was unable to catch up and victory slipped away from him.
The Ferrari driver did not experience the course in the best way. The driver finished in second position in the Grand Prix in front of his home crowd. A different outcome could have been better, but the track decided otherwise.
The weekend had started off well. The Monégasque driver finished first in the second free practice session and even achieved the fastest time in qualifying. A good omen for the race… But that’s not how things turned out for the Monégasque.
He had a mediocre start on Sunday at the Grand Prix, but managed to close the door on Russell at the first turn. He quickly pulled away from his pursuers, but soon Max Verstappen, who started seventh on the grid, was catching up with him.
Risk-taking
Sebastian Vettel’s pit stop and the intervention of the Virtual Safety Car caused Charles Leclerc to come into the pits, unlike Max Verstappen who continued with his starting tires. The Monegasque driver came out in 3rd place behind the reigning champion and George Russell.
Charles Leclerc regained the lead during Max Verstappen’s pit stop, who only made one stop during this Grand Prix before the Safety Car. The Ferrari driver, on the other hand, made two pit stops to change his tires.
A few laps before the end, Daniel Ricciardo was forced to stop in the Lesmo corners. The driver called in the Safety Car and the drivers went back to the pits to change tires.
It was thought that there would be a few more laps for the drivers to continue the race and explain the ending. However, the race ended under the safety car, leaving Charles Leclerc to finish behind Max Verstappen.
A disappointing and frustrating outcome for the Monégasque, who could have claimed a victory that Ferrari has been waiting for a long time. Especially in front of his home crowd.

The driver still finds himself in second place in the championship, ahead of Sergio Perez. He will have three weeks to recover from this race and prepare for the next Grand Prix in Singapore in order to finally try to win one.
