Drugovich asserts himself and clenches the championship

Felipe Drugovich emerges victorious in a thrilling main race. Richard Verschoor is (temporarily?) in second place. Ayumu Iwasa secures third position. An investigation will be conducted at the end of the race following the accidents that occurred after the restart.

Felipe Drugovich and Jack Doohan are flying at the front of the race. Meanwhile, Logan Sargeant, starting third on the grid, misses his braking point at the first turn and ends up in the gravel. He manages to get out but finds himself in last place. A few meters later, Sargeant misjudges Ralph Boschung’s braking and collides with his left rear wheel. Unable to regain control of his car, Sargeant crashes into the Techpro wall.

Four laps are completed under the Safety Car before the red flag is waved. This will allow the marshals to repair the damaged barriers.

The pit stops begin at the end of the eighth lap for the drivers equipped with soft tires.

Jack Doohan finishes second, just behind Felipe Drugovich. The undercut didn’t work. The Brazilian retains his virtual first place. Australian Doohan was stuck behind Tatiana Calderon.

Richard Verschoor, the local driver, shifts in strategy. A successful gamble, he comes out of the pits ahead of Jack Doohan. However, the Trident driver gets passed a few meters later. Nonetheless, Verschoor has overtaken Dennis Hauger in the pits.

The Safety Car came out on the seventeenth lap following Marino Sato’s accident. His left front wheel was not properly tightened after his pit stop.

On the restart, it was quite chaotic! Liam Lawson takes too long to restart the race… Behind him, Richard Verschoor misjudges the slowdown and ends up colliding with the back of Jack Doohan’s car, who was virtually in second place. Clement Novalak is also caught up in the incident and immediately heads to the pits: he has broken his front wing and suspension on Tatiana Calderon’s car. This is a retirement for the French driver, who was potentially in sixth place. The race restart will be reviewed after the finish line.

From the lap counter to the countdown.

During the restart, the drivers with hard tires are stopping one after the other.

The race will not go until the end of the forty laps. There will be thirteen minutes left after the Safety Car comes in.

Felipe Drugovich emerges victorious despite a challenging race marred by Safety Car interventions. Richard Verschoor finishes second, possibly provisionally, as an investigation will be conducted after the race regarding the restart (the Dutchman collided with Doohan). It’s a new podium finish for Japanese driver Ayumu Iwasa, who secures third place.

Clément Novalak, who was virtually sixth, had to retire. Théo Pourchaire, unlucky with the strategy and the Safety Car, finishes in tenth position.

See you next week for the meeting in Monza, the second-to-last one of this season.
