Hamilton will not apologize to Alonso
Forced to retire following a collision with Fernando Alonso in the first lap of the Belgian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton did not appreciate the comments made by the Spanish driver about his driving.

The first lap of the Belgian Grand Prix will be remembered for the collision between Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes and Fernando Alonso’s Alpine at the Combes corner. After a great start from both multiple world champions, the British and the Spanish drivers found themselves side by side on the Kemmel straight that follows Eau Rouge. Approaching the next corner, Hamilton and Alonso made contact, resulting in the retirement of the Mercedes car number 44.
Hot off the press, the future Aston Martin driver didn’t hesitate to say what he thought of his former teammate’s move at McLaren: “What an idiot! Closing the door from the outside. We had a great start, but this guy only knows how to drive when he’s in the lead or starting first.”
On his part, Hamilton admitted his responsibility in the incident: “He was in my blind spot and I didn’t give him enough space. It’s my fault. I couldn’t see him. I’m sorry for the team. I need to recover and get back to training.”
Informed of Alonso’s reaction, the Mercedes driver took the opportunity to send a little jab at his counterpart: “I would have apologized to him until I heard what he said. I know what can be thought in the heat of the moment, but it’s nice to know what he thinks of me. Like I said, it wasn’t intentional, and I take responsibility for it. That’s what adults do.” The person concerned will surely appreciate this last remark from his opponent.
