Verstappen receives a reprimand
After his controversial start attempt on Friday, in FP2, Max Verstappen will not be further penalized than with his engine change. He receives a warning.
The image had elicited a few slightly scared sighs: Max Verstappen made his practice start at the end of the second free practice session, just as Esteban Ocon was passing by him. But above all, he crossed the line of the zone where the tests are conducted, parking in front of the Frenchman’s car. This is not allowed.
The incident was of course reported to the race commissioners, who promptly investigated the scene. Thankfully, the incident had no consequences. However, the collision was still a close call.
This Saturday, the conclusions have been announced: the race direction only gives a warning to the championship leader, who will start anyway on one of the last six positions.
