Verstappen considers Ferrari’s strategy in qualifying to be intelligent
In the press conference after the qualifications of the French Grand Prix, Max Verstappen stated that Ferrari played their cards well to secure the pole position for the French Grand Prix.

Second on the grid at the Paul Ricard circuit, Max Verstappen couldn’t do anything to take the pole from his rival Charles Leclerc. The Monegasque driver took advantage of the slipstream offered by his teammate Carlos Sainz to secure the sixteenth pole position of his career. Knowing that he was condemned to start from the back of the grid, the Spanish driver perfectly adhered to the strategy implemented by his team.
The championship leader did not fail to acknowledge this move: “I think it was a smart thing to do (Ferrari’s strategy). And if any of us had to start from the back of the grid, it’s probably what we would do too.”
This is already the sixth time in twelve races that Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen will share the front row on the starting grid this season. The battle promises to be intense on the scorching track of the Paul Ricard circuit this afternoon.
