The future of Sebastian Vettel will undoubtedly be one of the hot topics of this end of the season. The four-time world champion, who joined Aston Martin last year and is experiencing a second season as challenging as the first with the British team, seemed elsewhere for his return to Australia after missing the first two races of the season. This was enough to trigger the first rumors of retirement at the end of the 2022 season.

But since that complicated episode in Melbourne, the former Ferrari driver has been delivering strong performances, even scoring 15 points in this first half of the season, despite his car not appearing to allow him to achieve such outstanding results. As proof, his teammate Lance Stroll is struggling much more behind the wheel of the AMR 22.

While the French Grand Prix takes place this weekend, the usual press conference for the drivers was held on Thursday. When asked about his future, Sebastian Vettel confirmed that continuing the adventure with Aston Martin was indeed part of his plans.

« I will be running this weekend, and then the next one. Afterward, obviously I said that at some point, we will start discussing, explains Vettel. « I am talking to the team. I think there is a clear intention to continue. We will soon see where we stand.

For some time now, Aston Martin has not been hiding its desire to keep Sebastian Vettel within its ranks. While his contract ends this season, the German could therefore extend his journey within the team led by Mike Krack.
