Ferrari claims that their delay behind Red Bull has been caught up with the new improvements
Ferrari has just achieved back-to-back victories for the first time since 2019, and for the first time in 2022. According to Mattia Binotto, the gap to Red Bull is now negligible.

Ferrari has considerably reduced its gap to Red Bull in the recent races, and has managed to overcome its rival in two consecutive Grand Prix. Building on their momentum, Ferrari aims to capitalize on its improvements to contend for the championship. The improvement in question is a new rear wing that provides the F175 with a comparable top speed to that of Red Bull. Initially mounted on Leclerc’s car in Canada, it is now installed on both cars since the Silverstone Grand Prix.
It is thanks to this rear wing that Mattia Binotto can claim that the performance gap with the Red Bull car has become “very small, if not negligible”. « I believe that in terms of pure speed, the two cars are similar, as shown by the qualifying sessions, I don’t think there is a significant difference. We had a disadvantage compared to the Red Bulls, no doubt, especially on the straight lines and even more with the DRS. We worked a lot on it and built a new rear wing which we first tested on Charles’ car during the Canadian GP. We now have it on both cars since the United Kingdom race. »
« We simply closed the gap, we have more speed, but I think they still maintain a slight advantage, albeit very light or negligible, which is why we have a very close power. It is only the difference in grip in the corners that we can play with now. »
Ferrari has won 4 out of the first 11 races of the season and is now 58 points behind its rival. As for Charles Leclerc, he is 38 points behind the reigning World Champion.
