Small technical reminder

A Formula 1 power unit is equipped with 7 different components:

  • Two thermal elements: the engine block and the turbo
  • Two hybrid elements: the MGU-H (energy recovery from exhaust) and K (energy recovery from braking)
  • Two electronic elements: the batteries and the control electronics

Each of the drivers is entitled to 3 engines, turbo, MGU-H and K, 2 batteries and control electronics.
