Tsunoda takes responsibility for the contact with his teammate
Tsunoda admitted to being responsible for the collision between him and his teammate.

On the 10th lap of the Silverstone Grand Prix, Yuki Tsunoda catches up to Gasly, who is struggling with worn tires. Tsunoda decides to go on the offensive, but quickly finds himself in danger. Finally catching up to Gasly’s car, Tsunoda attempts to overtake the Frenchman but misses his braking point, causing Gasly to spin out.
The two AlphaTauris were P7 and P8 at the time of the incident. Tsunoda finished P14 and Gasly had to retire due to the incident. Tsunoda received a 5-second penalty and two points on his license.
Tsunoda admitted his mistake in an interview after the race, sharing his perspective: « Well, from my side, with my speed, it was easy to make it through the corner, but I didn’t expect him (Gasly) to close the door on me. I mean, he didn’t completely close the door on me, but there wasn’t enough room to pass ».
Obviously, when you are fighting with another car, you try to give as little space as possible because you don’t want to give up your position so easily. So I can understand Pierre. Of course, I could have waited for another opportunity. The main thing I want to say is that I’m sorry for the team.
We will have to discuss it. Obviously from my point of view, I was the fastest. Anyway, it’s my fault, I have nothing else to say.
