Gasly frustrated with the points lost this season
With only 16 points on the scoreboard in nine Grand Prix races, Pierre Gasly assesses his start to the season. The Normandy-born driver is frustrated by the points lost throughout the weekends.

This season, AlphaTauri is no longer as performing as it was in the past two years. Because at the start of the 2022 season, achieving big points consistently has become challenging for Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda.
On the accounting side, the Faenza team only has 27 points in 9 Grand Prix, 16 for Gasly and 11 for Tsunoda. The Frenchman no longer dominates his Japanese teammate overwhelmingly, who is much more comfortable in his second season in the premier category.
In addition to their pure performance, AlphaTauri has often lacked luck or made mistakes, ultimately burying their chances of scoring points in certain races. Pierre Gasly has been frustrated by these missed opportunities.
(I) I have nightmares when I see how many points we have lost since the beginning of the year due to various incidents and mistakes that we have made, declares the one who recently extended the adventure with the Italian team.
(I) I just want to go back on Sunday evening after each race, being happy with the work done and the performance we showed, that’s the most important thing. If it’s good enough for fifth place, we must be fifth, if it’s good enough for ninth, then we must be ninth,” adds Gasly.
The frustration is building up a little.
After some mistakes, Gasly admits to having gone to talk to his team. Obviously, frustration accumulates a little and it was important for me to show them that I am here to push them, to challenge them. I put myself in the same boat as everyone else to make them move forward as a team and together. That’s why I had a good discussion with everyone, I think it was well appreciated. And it was good to confirm it just after with the best weekend of the season. So hopefully this can be a turning point in our year.
AlphaTauri is in a no man’s land in the constructors’ standings, in 7th position. The fight for the 4th place ahead seems already over, while Aston Martin could potentially come back from behind if the car performs better with its various evolutions.
