Stroll is not as comfortable with the car as he was last season

Lance Stroll is one of the most surprising drivers on the grid. Capable of the best and the worst, the Canadian has been sparking debates since his arrival in Formula 1 in 2017 with the Williams team. Achieving a pole position in 2020 at the Istanbul circuit with his Racing Point, Lance Stroll showed what he is capable of. The problem lies more in terms of consistency. And this season, even more than usual, the Canadian seems to be struggling with his Aston Martin.

Last weekend in Montreal, in front of his home crowd, Lance Stroll managed to score a point at home, taking advantage of the circumstances of the race. However, the Aston Martin driver stated after the Canadian Grand Prix that he is not yet completely comfortable with his car.

« We are always learning, but personally, I think I want to be in a better and more comfortable position with the car,” declares Stroll. « I still feel that I am not really confident with the car, I don’t feel really precise and just predictable in the car.”

The goal is clear: to regain the foundations of the trust that Stroll established last year. « I think I still have to work to get back to a position I had last year and the year before, when it was just more predictable and comfortable. For now, it’s still a bit difficult for me and I plan to keep working with the engineers and try to fix this. »

Lance Stroll highlights the complexity of these new cars. The characteristics of the car are very rigid, maybe it’s the setup. I don’t drive someone else’s car, so I don’t know. But we just have to keep working and understanding. It’s really more complicated this year compared to previous years of just being in a good position and a good pace.

After nine Grand Prix races, Lance Stroll has only scored three points while his teammate Sebastian Vettel already has thirteen.
