Bottas believes that Alfa Romeo could soon be fighting for victories

Alfa Romeo hasn't won since 1950, and hasn't been on the podium since 1984. Valtteri Bottas believes that all of this can change this season.

The 2022 season saw the implementation of the budget cap, originally intended to allow smaller teams to compete with the bigger ones. Alfa Romeo has been able to take advantage of this opportunity to bounce back and is now in 6th place with 47 points, thanks to a highly performing Valtteri Bottas.

However, the Italian team is still far from being able to fight at the front of the grid, but all indications are green for making progress under the best conditions. Valtteri Bottas testifies to this: “We are not yet at our maximum, I can see it. Everyone knows that there are so many things we can improve. At least we know that with a team like ours, everything becomes much more balanced with the budget cap.”

So we definitely know that opportunities will arise. But for now, it is realistic to think that we can do better, and in the future, we will be able to compete for podiums, and even for victories. I truly believe in it, but it requires a lot of work and that’s why I am here.

The latest Grand Prix in Canada showed it, with both Alfa cars finishing in points in 7th and 8th position, the Italian team is on the right track.
