Requested for several years by fans, virtual reality will finally make its grand entrance in F1 22. A demand that has intensified over the years and as other games like Gran Turismo Sport, Drive Club, and Project Cars have embraced this technology.

However, bad news for console players (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series), currently, no VR support is planned. This new aspect of the game will therefore be exclusively reserved for PC players.

In order to promote the integration of Virtual Reality in F1 22, Codemasters has released gameplay footage of VR on their social media platforms. In the video, the player takes on the role of Lance Stroll behind the wheel of his Aston Martin, racing on the Gilles Villeneuve circuit.

We thus better understand the strengths of VR. It makes the game much more immersive by imposing the cockpit view, removing visual aids such as the pressure gauge on the pedals or the proximity arrow. All these elements make the gaming experience more realistic and also enhance the sense of speed.

Lee Mather, the director of F1 games at Codemasters, speaks out about the introduction of Virtual Reality: VR revolutionizes F1 22 on PC, taking the race weekend to an unprecedented level. From the claustrophobia felt while sitting in the cockpit to the intensity caused by the lights going out as 20 cars accelerate towards the first turn. You will never feel as close to an F1 race outside of the track.

As a reminder, F1 22 will be released on July 1st for the standard version. The Champions Edition allows you to play the game starting from July 28th. It will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series.
