Yuki Tsunoda is experiencing his second season in Formula 1 in 2022. The Japanese driver seems much more comfortable this season and is often able to compete with, or even beat, Pierre Gasly. Last weekend in Baku, although Pierre Gasly finished 5th and Tsunoda only 13th, it was due to an uncommon event.

Tsunoda was indeed a victim of a never-before-seen problem with his rear wing. The left side of his DRS was opening on its own, while the right side remained closed. So, while he was in 7th place with a few laps to go, the driver with number 22 had to go through the pit lane and had his rear wing “repaired” with tape, which caused him to lose a lot of time.

At the dawn of the start of the Canadian Grand Prix, which takes place this weekend, Tsunoda believes that this issue has been understood and, above all, resolved by his team. « The team explained it very well. The important thing is to understand what the problem was, and they have already made modifications to the rear wing. We are confident that it won’t happen again. So it’s a good thing that we have these problems at the beginning of the season. »

Yuki Tsunoda has never had the opportunity to drive in Canada, absent since 2019 due to Covid-19. Therefore, he will discover the Gilles Villeneuve circuit starting from this Friday.
