Sebastian Vettel must have a torn heart over the team he supports in the title fight. Either Red Bull, the team that trusted him at the beginning and with whom he won four world championships, or Ferrari, his beloved team where he spent six years trying to follow in the footsteps of his idol, Michael Schumacher.

But the German has shown his preference for the Scuderia and Charles Leclerc, his former teammate. Vettel is effusive about the Monégasque, hoping to see him win the title this season.

“I think there are a lot of Formula 1 drivers who obviously have a lot of talent and Charles is one of them. He is in a good car and he deserves it. So, I hope that the car will be good enough for him to fight for the title this year. Usually, good drivers get the right package at the right time. So, I am very happy for him. And I hope, as I said, that he will have the car to do it until the end,” Vettel explains.

The four-time world champion does not write off Max Verstappen, despite the mistakes he may have made earlier in his career.

Max made some mistakes, but I think we all make mistakes, not necessarily because he’s so young. These guys haven’t been here for a while, it’s not all new to them, thinks Sebastian Vettel.

Max Verstappen is already in his eighth season in Formula 1 at just 24 years old, and he has just broken a record by becoming the youngest driver to achieve 25 victories, erasing Sebastian Vettel’s previous record.
