Le Mans experiences the 24 Hours at 100%
The city of Le Mans is hosting the traditional 24 Hours race this week. Both the municipality and the residents seem to be attached to it.
Flags, references, posters, and still-standing podium on the Place de la République. This Monday, in Le Mans, it was impossible to miss a reference to the famous endurance race. The whole city switched to 24 Hours mode.
Whether it’s on shop windows, banners, photos on the gates of the Préfecture, t-shirts with the image of the race or the slogan “Of course Le Mans,” it seems like all the people of Le Mans are eagerly awaiting this event.
“It’s an institution here. We look forward to it so much that we would need the 24 Hours every month,” indicates a restaurant owner close to the Place de la République.
In Le Mans, the residents are very attached to this race and they would never want it to disappear for anything in the world. Here, no one comes to make remarks saying “oh, motor racing pollutes, it serves no purpose,” continues the one who welcomed Wolfgang Ullrich and the Audi drivers to his establishment.
